If you are a Google Chrome user, then you must be familiar with the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error. It is really very frustrating to see DNS error, just after launching the Google Chrome. DNS error does not allow users to open certain WebPages, which can be easily opened on other web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera Mini etc. However, chrome users would like to access those websites on chrome only.

Fix DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error

Well, when there is a problem, there is a solution. In order to solve the DNS probe error, you need not have to be a computer geek or require any special software. Just follow the below mentioned steps and solve DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error:

Method #1: Using command prompt

Step 1: Press Windows key + R or click start button and type run. This will open the RUN dialogue box for you.

Step 2: Type cmd in dialogue box and hit enter. This action will open command prompt window.

Step 3: Copy “netsh winsock reset catalog” and paste in command prompt. Hit enter

Step 4: Reboot your system.

Step 5: Launch Google Chrome. You will not face DNS error now.

Method #2: Changing DNS settings

Step 1: Find network icon in your Taskbar in Windows 7. Or browse connection settings, you will find the network icon.

Step 2: On the left pane of network icon box, you will find the Change Adapter Settings.

Step 3: Network connection window will appear on your screen. Determine which network connection is active and connected. It can be LAN, wireless connection or WAN. Right Click on active connection and select properties.

Step 4: New window will pops up on your computer screen. Find and click on the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4). Then hit the properties button under it.

Step 5: Checkout the DNS server address option. If Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8 and Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4. does not match with the above mentioned values, change them.

Step 6: Click Ok and launch Google Chrome.

This method will fix DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error, and now you will be able to open desired webpage on the Google Chrome without getting any error message. Enjoy internet surfing.
